Nothing odd about it, it's this weeks masterplan. Tune in next week to see the plans to move Accrington Centre to the South Coast

Re: TESCO - new site in Accrington.
Demolition is well under way at Eagle Street G, maybe we will end up with a Morrisons as well.

Re: TESCO - new site in Accrington.
Smells fishy.
I know the Arndale vehmently opposed the plans for the new Tesco.
Could be the start of trolley wars.

Well, if they had attached it to the Arndale (as Sainsburys intended to), they would have looked at it differently. If Morrisons are showing a serious interest, this may be Tesco's way of keeping them out.

Keep taking 'em Atarah .. that way we will know if building is going on for a Tesco on this site.
I think we need an explanation from the council chambers on this one !!

Re: TESCO - new site in Accrington.
In retrospect though, I suppose it will be years before this plan ever gets off the ground, so Tesco are looking up front showing an interest to move in there as and when, providing their Accrington store on Eagle Street has proved a success.

Re: TESCO - new site in Accrington.
Well, to say we thought the Tesco store may be on "hold", there was a heck of a lot of activity today around 4.00pm. Plenty of heavy machinery moving brickwork and rubble around, and... lots of new portacabins being dropped into place. And they have also started putting a blue gauze "covering" behind the green netting. Is that to stop people such as me taking piccy's? - but ... I can still see off the top of the railway bridge! Tee hee

What little yellow truck, all I can see is a white van and a little orangy/red coloured digger.
Any way Gypo's only turn up when its dark,
luckily I've got a night vision scope, its surprising what you can see through it, just wish I could mount it on my camera.

Re: TESCO - new site in Accrington.
wonder who years ago had the sense to retain one of the original walls of Howard and Bulloughs?) What a clever person!
It was a whole block not just the wall, more like logical planning, and utilising existing buildings, cost effective, yes. That wall would have collapsed with out the support of the remainder of that block, may even have been listed.

Re: TESCO - new site in Accrington.
Work is going on in earnest now on the excavation of the site. Loads of heavy machinery working flat out.

Re: TESCO - new site in Accrington.
Traffic to and from the site is horrendous, god knows what it will be like when the store opens.

Re: TESCO - new site in Accrington.
Well, as expected, they have created an entry/exit on Scaitcliffe Street for their vehicles. Views here from this area and from station area.
