It is quite a few degrees warmer where you are - which makes smoking outside less unpleasant

Re: will they ban the ban???
I have sat outside with the smokers at AccyWeb meets several times and I am not a smoker. It is nice to walk into a pub though and it not smell of fags. Its also nice to be able to go home afterwards and not smell of them. I know that is something that smokers probably don't notice, if you do you wont notice as much. Its a bit like walking into a stinky dodgy smell house, the owners don't often notice how stinky their house is.

ah well this time next year there is likely to be a Tory Government and they can revoke the ban... will they be a "poxy" government if they don't revoke?

That will depend on how many tory MPs are big share holders in breweries and tobacco companies.

ahh but hes a fake greenie
he cycles to work and has a car follow him with his papers so publicly he will stand for the smoking ban but abolish it and claim he had no knowlege of it happening until an email gets leaked saying different
i think thats how polotics works anyway

If the next Toy Government were to rescind all the nonsense legislation passed by this shower they'd being spinning, I think there will be far more important things to do like finding out how to repay the £2 Trillion debt run up by Incapability Brown and his useless Little Darling

Re: will they ban the ban???
Not quite sure if I approve of this :-
‘No cigs’ plea to Accrington school parents (From Lancashire Telegraph)
Even if the mothers who smoke at the school gates are shamed into not smoking there, they will only light up once they get in the car. Think also is encouraging a type of vigilante society and possible 'controversy' between the kids whose parents don't smoke and those who do.
They'll have signs 'advising' about 4 x 4's, obesity and alcohol soon.

Well if the parents smoke in the car or house with the kids present they obviously don't care about the health of their children. Maybe by trying to shame them like this it may help keep the kids smoke free.
I agree that kids from smoke free homes are less likely to become smokers than from homes with smoking parents.

I don't disagree with you Neil .. but that was not my point. Don't think it is the right way to go about it. They are not doing anything illegal. They'll have the kids parading outside smokers' houses next with banners before we know it, which in the extreme, could lead to throwing bricks through their windows.

Re: will they ban the ban???
A teacher from mount carmel parks outside of my house every day, she pops up and sits in the car to have a smoke, presumably because she isnt allowed to smoke in the school grounds, I dont see Mt Carmel putting a banner outside my house to tell her to bog off elswhere, she has paid her road tax, so if for that reason she can park there and smoke, then what business is it of the schools if parents smoke outside school grounds?
