There's a book called 'Molly and the Muslim Stick' (amazon link here). Here's the first line of the prologue:

"Molly is raised in the harsh surroundings of Accrington, Yorkshire, during the years leading up to World War Two."

A mistake on Amazon's product description? Or an author without an atlas?

I've seen that before, on service papers of WW1 soldiers, turns out there was or is a place called Accrington in Yorkshire, somewhere near Hull.

May be, but I did write.
"there was or is a place called Accrington in Yorkshire, somewhere near Hull", WW1, ie 1914-1919. I've seen it more than once on WW1 service records.

Yeah in the Amazon blurb for the book it says "we enter an absurdist narrative peopled with talking animals, demented prophets, shape-shifting ghosts, Amerindian asylum seekers and a Muslim walking stick."

Definitely Yorkshire.
