Re: Alex Higgins
He used to back his horses with my dad when my dad worked for Bradlows betting shops. He gave my dad a record player with his name signed in the back. I played many a record on that when I was young

Re: Alex Higgins
Sorry to hear that, he certainly livened up the snooker world in his prime. Probably the most exciting player of his day.

Re: Alex Higgins
I met Alex a few times many moons ago, playing down at Elite!...In fact i played him in practise a couple of times...i paid of course...and i lost of course...as most people did!....One of the top 5 or 6 snooker players of all time!...Yes he was a Total Prat at times...and at some times, much worse than that, but he was truelly Mercurial around a snooker table..he had charisma and a touch of magic about him, and he brought snooker to a much wider audience than it ever had been before! He will always be talked about as long as snooker is played!...He could almost hold his own with Ollie Reed too!....RIP wee Man!!
Best Regards - Taggy

Re: Alex Higgins
Just about the time everything went 'downhill' Alex lived in Holcolmbe brook, used to play pool in the local pubs, a pound a game, winner stayed on the table for the next game and the challenger paid, he didnt spend much time watching, and was always keen to get the game done and start the next, even at a pound a time, he made some money out of it. RIP Alex Higgins.
