Beware the English Cricket team

As a "pasteurised Aussie" now.......I naturally follow the fortunes of the Aussies playing cricket........so it was interesting to note that one of our main strike bowlers scored 200 runs with the bat......... ........my sympathies will now go the the English team at the next testmatch......if he,s still around ........

LONDON (Reuters) - Cardiff will stage the first test match to be played in Wales during the Ashes series in 2009, the England and Wales Cricket Board announced on Thursday.

Glamorgan's Sofia Gardens will take the place of Nottingham's Trent Bridge in the roster for cricket's oldest international fixture between England and Australia.

The ground will be given a 7.4 million pound development in readiness.
"This is an historic day for cricket in Wales," said Paul Russell, chairman of county club Glamorgan, in a statement.

"The development of Sofia Gardens will transform the venue into a modern, world class stadium and help Glamorgan Cricket enthuse a new generation of cricket players while providing tangible benefit to the economy in Wales and to Glamorgan cricket."
I hope the £7.4 million is spent very wisely as last time I saw a game there the whole ground, infrastructure and everything was a pile of poo.

Strike bowler? Really? ? ?

From what I remember of last years ashes series, your supposed strike bowler couldn't hit a barn door from 22 yards, never mind the Pommie wickets. I seem to recall that "Dizzy" Gillespie had the embarrassment of being dropped for the last Test, to be replaced by some young pup called Tait.

Re: Beware the English Cricket team

He is an unpredictable player, although he did have a bad series against England last summer on his day he is sometimes unplayable...He has the ability to swing the ball both ways and leave batsmen in a trouble...
