Re: Grand National 2007
68 horses in ONE race ... thats a sodding cavalry charge , is the field usually so big or do a lot drop out before the race ?

Re: Grand National 2007
It's possibly the most brutal horse race in England. Quite often only 10 to 15 finish and frequently there are serious injuries to either horse or riders. Yet, it is the most watched and betted on horse race in the country.

Pretty sure 40 is the maximum. A few drop out before the day then they have a ballot ... I think

Think you might get your money back, it's next to bottom of the list for horses that will run in the final 40

Re: Grand National 2007
They limit it to 40 horses for the race itself. They have been watering the course because its too dry and so too hard/fast for the horses. The first time i backed a horse in the national was red rum because i liked the colour red and i won - every time he ran i backed him and won!!! Every year my mum said hes not going to win and wouldnt back him - the one year she said that she would back him he didnt run he pulled out the day before!!!
This year im going for Idle Talk - his assistant trainer has been there many years and won it four times so he knows what hes doing.
