How much is golf
ok i've wanted to do some golfing some time
but as someone with no clubs i dont wanna invest in a one and then not play it again
so how much do local golf ranges/clubs charge for usage etc?
maybe just a range to do some wacking off or have some holes too

Re: How much is golf
Hey Mani, I would think you'd have some mates who would let you borrow their clubs. I wouldn't think rental would be much either.
Over here, during the week, we can play 18 holes with a cart for $18 (~9lbs).
Congrats on your little girl. I had my little girl (she's almost 17 now) when I was your age. Pretty exciting eh? Hope she's got to taking milk so as not to have to worry. It can be so hard not to worry about things when they're so small! Sleep Well!

On no, don't practice with a professional. You'll start swinging the club just right, hitting nice long drives and perfect chip shots. Then, the worst of the worst, ya start thinking you can play the game!
You decide to give it a go. You face your first hole with water, lose a few balls, ya slice into the woods, lose a few balls, ya hook into the meadow, lose a few balls, then you finally get on the green and 3 put. (this has been a short glimps of LYY's typical bi-annual golf excursion).
Once I stopped taking it too serious I did start to enjoy the game. Funny thing once I relaxed and stopped caring so much I began doing a whole lot better. Just had to realize I couldn't play the game then I could! Weird eh?

Re: How much is golf
*L* borrow them from mates?! u gotta b jokin - they'll get confiscated and i'll get locked up for the stuff they've done!!
no seriously though golf isnt as widespread popular in the uk as it is in the usa - i remmeber reading an article on it on how it was seen as a common man's game in the usa but not in the uk...
i mite pop down to rishton on my own since none of my useless mates will come sayin its pointless

Re: How much is golf
I can deffo recommend Rishton driving range as it has plenty of bays all in good condition and under cover too. If you do decide the game is for you, i would look on e-bay there are some real bargains to be had. Get some advice so as you aren't buying crap equipment tho'. If you wanna join a club it will cost you around the 400 mark for full membership at most 9 hole clubs around here:- Gn Haworth, Baxenden, Rishton, Gt Harwood(may be more). But if you are looking to join an 18 hole club you are more than likely to be expected to cough up over 600 quid and there may be a joinin fee aswell. Hope this doesn't put you off. However there is also a cheaper option of joinin a club as a 5 day member which allows you to play all you want during the week. Good Luck.

Aye Entwisi that was when I was more of a youngin' with the "English" language. And no, we don't have that squiggly symbol on our keyboards. I now know I can write Quid.
As for the thread, I went golfing with a bunch of Mates in February. Cost ~$185 for 4 rounds of 18 holes plus very nice accomadations. It was down in Myrtle beach, South Carolina. That was the down season for this mecca of US Golf courses.
