And it wont be in future if they insist on broadcasting such mindless cobblers ! I can walk down the street or through the town if I want to see self centred, stupid people, loud, nauseous, self aggrandizing, attention whores, vying to be "famous" or failing that the House of Commons channel.

I can't for the life of mean understand how people are drawn to watching stuff like this ! Out of all the wannabe's & make me famous's, how many are ? What have these shallow individuals achieved ? Have they helped humanity ? Produced something of benefit to the world at large ? Or will they be like the Little Britain character "Liz" who's claim to fame & only apparent thing of note she's done with her life was to be a "Bridesmaid at Mollie Sugdens Wedding", repeated interminably to all who'll listen or won't for that matter, yeah, real quality entertainment.

Well it ran for about 10 years and had some celebrity runs as well, I didn't manage to watch an episode during that time so I would imagine I won't be giving this new attempt to insult our intelligence much houseroom either

Yep, I'm all the way with Jaysay, never watched it, never wanted to watch it, grateful I had no woman insisting I should watch it, more than willing to avoid it again this time around as well.

Re: Big Brother set to return to our screens

I watched some of the very first series, back in the days when it was considered a social experiment. At the time it was a new concept for television and vaguely interesting although I must admit I never got hooked like everyone else seemed to. The problem was that the producers, rather than stick with a decent formula, felt the need to drop in more and more social misfits as the years went by until all they ended up with was a freak show with nowhere left to go.

I am glad that it was cancelled because quite honestly there is enough worthless tabloid television without adding to it. There is virtually nothing on that truly grips my attention any more and programmes which glorify people who are famous simply for being famous won't change that for me.

That's funny Ken, I always thought they were all social misfits, you have to be out your head to even think of entering for that freak show in the first place

From what I can gather, in the end they were simply all publicity junkies after a chat show deal or a fitness DVD or simply a photo on the cover of Heat magazine. In the beginning it was a low-budget show and an interesting experiment based on a very famous book. I think at least three have 'broken out' over the years because it simply wasn't for them in the end and I respect that more than those who went in there purely for the narcissistic venture of getting their face on the box.

I'm afraid I'd far rather watch something like QI or Have I Got News For You than anything that resembles reality TV.
