Re: Born to Kill; Harold Shipman.

Now boys don't let's get worked up about Doctor Shipman, he's really not worth it! My point was that I find it interesting trying to find out what makes people tick, and I think Kestrelx was saying the same thing? And I do think that psychology in particular can tell us a lot, although by saying that I know I stand to be shot down in flames!

There is an old saying I think it comes from the Jesuits (A Catholic Order) "Give me a child until he is 7 and I will give you the man!" Take that also to mean "I will give you the woman!" if the child's a female.

It means that those years up to 7 are the most important!

I was interested in the fact that he committed suicide before a certain date so that his wife (Primrose) would benefit from his death. I was always under the impression that insurance policies didn't pay out on suicides, or is that wrong? Or did she benefit in some other way?

I always thought life insurance was null and void after suicide, but would hate to think that anybody would benefit from this monsters death

Re: Born to Kill; Harold Shipman.

I was fortunate to have been given a lecture at uni on Harold Shipman by Robin Braithwaite, the forensic toxicologist who worked on the Shipman case, and I found it fascinating from a sciencey side!

I had no idea about his past, but he was sane enough to become a doctor and gain a family... something musta snapped over the years!

Good riddance... Though, Jaysay, you could say I benefited from his death... I had an exam question about him haha!

Re: Born to Kill; Harold Shipman.

My youngest son was doing an A level in law when the trial was on, and he spent a day at the old Preston Crown Court watching it. He said Dr. Shipman really chilled him, apparently he showed no emotion and his eyes were very piercing and cold.
