Children of Men

Children of Men - tonight at 9 on ITV4.

One of the best films of recent years, in my opinion - not for the squeamish or easily offended but a (mostly) British cast and set in the south of England. Set in the near future, it's a world falling apart because the human race have stopped having children.

PD James - who makes a cameo right at the start as the old lady being served at the front of the cafe customers - seems to have got bored when writing it. As a novel, its abrupt ending spoiled it, so this is one of the very few films which are better than their source material.

Great scene where Clive Owen and the woman and baby walk out of the besieged building past the soldiers and the battle temporarily stops. Well worth watching!
