Coast
Narrated by Neil Oliver, Alice Roberts and others this is probably the best documentary about the British Isles ever.
It is a fascinating series that took the viewer all around the British Isles coastline.
I particularly liked Oliver’s style of narration – a cross between an enthusiastic schoolboy and a university professor. His obvious but not intrusive Scottish accent added that extra something.
Even the most brain dead would be enthralled with a trip around the coast.
The BBC series 1 – 3 as a 9 disk boxed set is available for £47.98 from Amazon.
But you can do better than that at Asda Entertainment at http://www.asda-entertainment.co.uk/asda/elysium.search?search=coast where the same set costs £32.93 with free delivery.

A great series JB watch every episode, I like Alice Roberts she's that bit different, she also did another series about the human body which was well worth the trip too

Re: Coast
I think that the real beauty of the series is that each episode leaves you wanting more. Even more so with those ten minutes snippets we get from time to time.
I beat my credit card into submission and sent off for the full set this afternoon. Bread and dripping isn’t all that bad if you put some salt on it and its only for a week.

Re: Coast
Brilliant series this. Can watch repeats of them over and over. Will be investing in the DVDs myself as soon as we can afford to.
Love that theme music too.

Re: Coast
You still get 10/15 minutes snippets now and then as time fillers between programmes. But the series as a whole finished a while ago.

Re: Coast
Series 4 has been confirmed for next summer. I would assume there will be some reruns before then, if there aren't already on BBC 3.

Re: Coast
If you have UK TV History, a series of it is starting on Monday 4pm. Not sure which series though.

£32.93 might seem like a lot but it is for 9 DVD’s and that puts it at under £4 each.
What you do is get two other people who are interested and they pay you £11 each. With their £22 and your £11 you send for the package and when it arrives you give each of them one series and then exchange them around until all three of you have watched it all.
One of the three might then want to keep all three series so they can buy them off the other two for £11 each.

Asda series3 £10.93 free delivery
Total £30.79. Boxed set £32.93 free delivery and that is only £2.14 for the box.
For the boxed set from Play at £47.99 - you are paying £9.02 for the box.

This series is produced by the BBC using money from us licence payers.
Should us licence payers be able to buy the series for the actual cost of the physical DVD's?
What would that be, a couple of quid?
By paying the full price are we not being asked to pay for the series twice?

And earnings from the sale of other programmes.
No!
Probably less. Say 50p.
No more than if people subscribe to Sky etc and watch the adverts that we pay for by buying the advertised goods. Sky etc get paid TWICE. Once by the advertiser and once by the subscriber. You do get a programme thrown in though.
If the BBC did not sell their programmes all around the world, it would not have the funds to make quality programmes like it does and in order to do so the licence fee would have to increase substantially.
