Coronation Street tram crash

I've just seen the episode from last night and what a spectacular piece of television it was. For those who haven't seen it, the closing moments were exceptionally tense stuff from a soap opera and considering that the budget for this week's episodes is £1m (cheap in television terms) I think that hearty congratulations are due to the production team.

I'm not a huge fan of soaps but I'll be tuning in this week to see what goes on, surely the whole point of the exercise.

Re: Coronation Street tram crash

From what I've read, a tram comes off the viaduct following an explosion underneath. Has Corrie gone green and is now recycling it's old scripts? I seem to recall a train coming off the said same viaduct back in the mid-60's, wiping out some of the cast.

Anyway, lets hope this time the lot get wiped out and this is the end of this godforsaken show and we get some decent telly to watch in the hour or so before I go down the pub.

And it's not exactly the best advert for Manchester Trams, is it? They've just spent two years and hundreds of millions on an upgrade and now this comes along. If I was Greater Manchester Transport, I would get the lawyers round to Granada, pronto.

As John says it is just a TV program,FICTION! If you watched the show you would know that a gas explosion in the Joinery(built under the arches of the bridge the trams run on) weakened the structure...and this caused the rails to buckle and the tram to come off the line into the street.......so it is no reflection on the tram services. So alas(for GMPT) there won't be any pay out.

Do you really think I have nothing better to do other than spend half an hour with my eyes glued to this garbage? I don't care whether it was a gas explosion, a bomb or a UFO crashlanding on top of the place...this progamme is no more than idiocy for neutered zombies. If you - and others on here - want to watch it, please go ahead...but please, spare me the torture of your reviews and analysis.

You didn't have to read this thread. The title was quite to the point. So stop grumbling.
