Thank you Neil, for clearing up all the nonsense from this thread. Perhaps now we can have a serious about kids diets, childhood obesity and hospital food.

Correct , I just don`t `get` Heston Blumenthal or the nonsense he cooks up, he`s no chef in my book.

Re: Deep Fried Worms & Snot Cake

I like some of the things Heston has done previously - Heston's Feasts (think that was the name) was really good IMO. He obviously puts a lot of thought into making something different that also works, rather than creating utter tosh and giving it a French name as per others. Some of his ideas (like the bacon and egg liquid nitrogen ice cream for example) are now pretty widespread. Also, his flagship restaurant/pub has 3 michelin stars; so saying he's not a chef is a little strange to me.

I have to say I didn't watch the new series though. Too many chef's are on some kind of crusade for my liking. Ever since Jamie Oliver's school dinners, they've all been jumping on the band wagon. They should stick to what they're good at.

What they are good at is creating good food; what some are very good at is presenting that process to the wider public. I have no time whatsoever for those foul-mouthed cretins Ramsey & Oliver; the former has a gastro pub about half a mile away which I avoid like the plague; I also try to avoid a close neighbour, Dehlia.

I do have a lot of time for the Hairy Bikers, Marco & Heston - all great chefs in their own individual way and each with their own individual ways of presentation. Marco has the classical training - the others do not. Nevertheless, they all make great food and it's just a shame that more of you did not see Heston's programme and prior to the introduction of his deep fried worms, the disgraceful way in which parents had to bring in their own food to feed their own children.

As for the comment by Alan Varrechia about not trusting a chef who's not been trained, then I'm quite sure he will be most happy to continue eating the local ASDA garbage, or for a special occasion, a defrosted Brazilian chicken leg, fried in a few tablespoons of Madras Curry, put together by some 17 year old illiterate Bengali who arrived in Accy on the underside of a 38 ton artic via Ostend just before Christmas. And just for £5.50, with free 24-hour parking on Blackburn Road.

Enjoy, Alan.

Don't forget the 'Two Fat Ladies', or at least the one that's left.

I have to confess to watching Hell's Kitchen - not for any culinary reasons; but because it's entertaining seeing how much of Gordon Ramsay's attitude people can take before breaking.
