Game of thrones (HBOS)

I saw some trailers for the series the other day so I thought I'd look it up online to have a watch, Series 1 episode 1, then 2,3,4,5 through to 10 in quick succession (a couple of episodes a night). Shocking, absolutely shocking, gratuitous & lascivious, debauchery, incest, homosexuality & posseltutes, nudity for the sake of it & the language, even as an ex-Squaddie it made my ears turn pink! Not your average Saturday afternoon family viewing with Gran or the Parents by any stretch of the imagination.

It's proper train crash viewing & morbid curiosity will keep pulling you back in to watch it, the rise & fall of great families, their desire & ambition for riches, putting it about with all & sundry, domination, death & destruction most horrible & violent, the right to rule. I sat & watched 5 episodes of series 2 yesterday evening. If you don't mind the disgustingnessness mentioned above & you enjoy your swords & sorcery (& can cope with bits flaccidly flopping about blokeys & wimmins) well worth a watch, but don't come back here all offended if it upsets your sensibilities, you were warned!

Rating 18+ + +

Re: Game of thrones (HBOS)

I have never watched it, although I have seen my adult grandchildren make similar comments about it as you have.

I used to be capable of reading and watching horror and violence. I was an avid fan of Stephen King and Dean Koonz. I ceased being a horror fan when I adopted a stress free policy of living, so that when I see or read it now I find it mentally and physically repellant.

I do not require such images to invade my conciousness. They do stir up an emotional and ,thus a hormonal, bodily response which I find very uncomfortable. An adrenalin increase does you no good at all.

There is even a rather, some consider, outlandish theory that such such negative emotion is provoked in order to be energetically harvested by other dimensional intelligent beings. It is named 'loosh' by an 'out of body experience' researcher named Robert A Monroe (amongst others) - a sort of psychic vampirism.

Whether you consider that possible or not - watching such violence is not physically harmless, so why do it.

I don't 'get the 'HBOS' reference - financed by a banking conglomerate?

You ain't planning to watch it, it isn't going to give off fumes, it's probably been developed by, the bankers so that they can take even more control of the participants way of life, just put your foil helmet on and you'll be safe.

There'll probably be some of that in later episodes I imagine!

Sorry, did I miss my appointment? I don't recall booking in with you Doctor Mags.

It's a TV series, I'm a bloke & not averse to some good looking Wench waggling her bits about, not so keen about the tadgers though. As to the rest of it, I believe I have the mental faculty to discern fact from fantasy/fiction, enough to be able to function affably within a civilised society.

Unlike yourself I've not been reclusive & have enjoyed or not as the case maybe the big wide World in all its grime & glory, from the simple pleasures of family, friends & nature, to the depths of depravity that mankind can inflict upon each other (being a soldier afforded me this insight to our darker nature.) But despite it all I'm still plodding along gamely, like I said it's a television series, It's not real & as long as I can make that distinction I think I'll get by.

I just don't watch any TV anymore - haven't switched it on in weeks !.

I am seriously thinking of canceling my licence direct debit when I move - it will take them a while to track me down and start their 'hassling'.

I had already concluded that you are a fan of porn - I also find that primitively distasteful.

My apologise Mags if you were expecting a conspiracy scoop, there should've been an apostrophe between the O & the S.

I don't express an opinion on something I know nothing about.

In the past I had a close male friend who was employed by HM Customs to impound such 'material' at Liverpool docks.
