Yes, and he was also Twiggy in the Royle Family. My favourite line of his was when asked by Barbara if he would like to stay for Sunday lunch with them, he said "Oh yes, Barbara. I'll eat any old sh**e."

Interesting to note that in contrast to his screen persona as a bit of a lazy fat slob, he was in real life the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight!

I don't know who's coolest, Onslow or Dean Martin?

Sad, was a very funny man! Loved him especially as Onslow. I seem to remember him being in Last of the Summer wine too.

He was great in Hearbeat as Vernon Scripps - not a big fan of Keeping up Appearances.

Re: Geoffrey Hughes RIP

Well I remember him as Eddie Yates, shows how long I have been watching Coronation Street.

And I liked him in the Royle family too. Never watched any of his other shows but I love to think of him in his official role on the Isle of Wight! A fitting end to a great career.
