Re: Hattie Jaques.

It was on BBC4 so should be on BBC2 in a week or two. Or you could use iplayer.
Well worth a watch.

Agree Alan ... I enjoyed it very much.
Is quite a lot of bed bouncing, Jaysay, so be aware ... bet that lady could bounce too.

Re: Hattie Jaques.

Enjoyed it.

Ruth Jones, and Robert Bathurst, gave fine performances as Hattie and John.

All of these BBC fact based dramas, Gracie, Frankie, Fanny, about deceased stars, have had faultless production values.

No doubt Kate but I wouldn't have wanted to be in the same bed

I haven't watched it, and decided that I didn't want to, when I read that she moved her toyboy into the matrimonial bed and so relegated her husband to the attic.
Was this completely insensitive behaviour mentioned in the drama/documentary?

Yes. The programme was about her awakened sexuality. The relationship with her lover, and her cuckolded husband, John Le Mesurier.

Which was all at odds with her public image, of a very proper, lovable matron.

Re: Hattie Jaques.

It all ended in tears of course, and ever the gentleman, Le Mesurier took the rap when the marriage ended, and they eventually divorced.

They remained close friends until her death.
