Hi Definition Television

As a subscriber to Sky TV, I am constantly being bombarded with adverts encouraging me to upgrade to hi definition TV. It is, it seems, the future.

The problem that I have, along, I suspect, with many people 50+ is that my eyesight just isn't up to seeing that much difference between hi definition pictures and non hi definition pictures, and certainly not enough to justify shelling out on the higher cost of hi definition. The picture might be ever so slightly less fuzzy, but so what? It doesn't add an iota to my enjoyment.

Am I alone in this? Are there any 50+ members of this forum who think hi definition is worth getting?

Never seen one and it doesnt really interest me.
Is it not just a ploy to get people paying more money?

Somone that has seen a hi-def TV might correct me but thats what I think.

Like you I didn't think it was worthwhile. We got a new Samsung TV earlier this year, and although my eyesight isn't brilliant(I have the beginnings of cataracts).......I certainly can tell the difference. The picture quality is definitely better....but I guess if you are happy with what you have then why change just to put money into the pockets of this company?
The Answer I guess is to go and have a look at some of the HD TV's.......and then decide

Oh no Heth I didn't check your profile....I just guessed.
It is good if you can get the salesman to have one on ordinary and one on HD side by side....you can definitely see the difference then.
When you switch from HD to Normal definition, it is vey hard to make a comparison.

Re: Hi Definition Television

I've had HD for over 4 years and the difference in picture is phenomenal really, the reason I got it in the first place was I was actually bought it for a Xmas present 4 years ago, but its been a good thing for me seeing I watch so much TV.

If you have a phobia about your wrinkles (which I don't) it will be reassuring for you to see that others have the problem too.

I scrapped my Sky box a few years ago. I have even considered selling my TV because it takes up space. Most days it doesn't even get switched on.
