Pierrepoint (the hangman)

just watched 'Pierrepoint' on the Sundance TV channel , think it was originally a British made for TV movie from a few years back , not sure how true to fact it was but "watchable/fascinating" in a strange sort of way

Re: Pierrepoint (the hangman)

Albert Pierrepoint (30 March 1905 – 10 July 1992) is the most famous member of the family which provided three of the United Kingdom's official hangmen in the first half of the 20th century. He was born in Clayton, in the West Riding of Yorkshire, England. During his life, he lived in Bradford, Lincoln, Oldham and the seaside resort of Southport.
My Dad said he had a pub, any ideas?

He also spent a very brief period in Rishton.

The dramatisation with Timothy Spaull from 2008 is about as accurate as it could have been and a very good piece of television. ITV are proving themselves to be a decent rival for BBC productions when they want to be.
