Once the illusion of competition is dissolved by a lack of integrous contestants, it's just The X Factor, really.
Unlike The X Factor though, I'm enjoying my first series of The Apprentice, even if it is just television.
Even though I thought Ben was a complete ass, I was quite surprised to see him fired. Once again the plastic-faced Debra has lived to fight another day. Still, it'll be entertaining to see how far her shrewish, vitriolic tongue will take her.
The firing of Howard last week came as no surprise; though there is little to choose between the remaining candidates: James, Yasmina, Kate, Debra and the scary one with the glasses. I have to say that I have been somewhat disappointed by the lack of flair and personality shown by this years feckless hopefuls. If I were S'r Alan, I doubt that I'd want to hire any of them. The interview stages, followed by Sunday's finale may well yield a surprise - though I doubt it! Maybe the planned 'Junior Apprentice' program will field a better bunch of applicants?
So James, Lorraine and Debra finally bite the dust. The preview program showed them all in a new light, though. James really is a twerp, as revealed in the interview stages, whilst I'm having to reconsider my objections to Debra, and Lorraine's make-over for the 'Your Fired' show was quite an improvement. Maybe Debra should have made Sunday's final with Kate just to make things more interesting. Can't say that I'm overly impressed with either finalist . . . but it's not up to me - is it!
That's it for another year. Yasmina was probably the better of the two finalists, though I reckon 'Ice Maiden' Debra would have given them both a run for their money. As for certain pundits proclaiming this year's candidates as the best ever, I doubt that they were watching the same show as myself! Still . . . there's always next year to look forward to when a new 'Junior Apprentice' section will be introduced for the first time - and S'rAlan may even be sucked into becoming Lord Sugar at the behest of an unelected and failed Prime Minister.
