AH......Tommy Cooper.....the only comedian who could walk on to a stage....say nothing....and have the audience wetting themselves with laughter.We will never see his like again........

The thing is he was exactly the same off stage as he was on, never stopped laughing and cracking jokes, and slight of hand tricks too

Groove also thinks the 70's were great for sit-coms. But Groove thinks comedy can become dated. Gone are the days when a stupid facial expression by Rowan Atkinson was funny. And that silly Peter Kay joking about dunking biscuits in a cup of tea.

I would not know about that, Rowan Atkinson is a master of facial comedy. Comedy is purely subjective and personal, I cannot stand Mr Bean, but to watch Rowan Live, well that is pure class.

He's pure fun ...brilliant commedian and actor. Love The Blackadder series and wish they'd come back to do more.

Mr.Bean has been shown to death but the TV series is still valid, the films were too much for the Hollywood market and lost that touch of true British humour...

Saw Rowan recently going past in his vintage car in The Thousand Miles race which comes past the end of our lane every year!! Otherwise have never seen him Live unfortunately.

No we don't .... Now that I think of it, what's Italian sit com like? Does it come from a different sense of humour, or is it like British (good) and North American (garbage, mainly) comedy only in Italian?

We get all the US carp, plus re-runs of some Brit shows ... but we do have our own stuff: Royal Canadian Air Farce, Red Green, Corner Gas, Trailer Park Boys, Little Mosque on the Prairies .... some of which ain't all that bad.

The Italian sense of humour is not my cup of tea at all Eric - it's pretty infantile and has no shading like British commedy does...

There are the odd exceptions in films ...but they are rare.!

Kinda figured that ... the only really good Italian comedy I've seen is in "Prizzi's Honor" ... and that was Italian-American

I tried to find some appropriate clips from "Trailer Park Boys" ... a Canadian comedy that is paradoxically subtle in it's crudity ... but all the cuts are a little too much for a family forum ... actually a lot too much

By the way, do they have a full English breakfast at Tiffany's?

I had to look it up to be sure Little Mosque on the Prairie wasn't a wind up, but no... I see it's shown in quite a few other countries as well. Perhaps we should have it here - it can't be any worse than some of the current home grown stuff.

Moi! Angels and ministers of grace defend us! Problem maybe, that to a British viewer, Saskatchewan would be too alien ... yes, "alien" will do. Dave in Germany would get it, I think, 'cause he spent time in The Hat. I'm a big fan of "Corner Gas" too ... and that's also set in Saskatchewan, where I spent 18 years ... that would qualify me as Stubble Jumper First Class ... maybe even Binder Pilot

I just can't see anything with the word mosque in the title getting past the programme commissioners here.
