I was at the match that Ted Heath attended at Turf Moor.

Still hate her politics mind, but I did warm to her as a person. Though with hindsight, you do have to admire her dog's dangly bits, compared to today's weak as dishwater political leaders, especially when dealing with our E.U. 'brothers'.

Odd, when your perceptions are challenged.

Always thought Enoch Powell would be a monster, and he was a quiet, kind, gent. Whereas someone I admired growing up, David Bowie turned out to be a supercilious, vacuous, snob.
Would love to have had that opportunity myself -even though she was Public enemy No 1 for me when younger. She has won her place in history whether you agreed with her or not.

Surprising how the public persona can be so different to the real person.

Bowie i have always loved as a performer - he has a kind of magnetism -caught a glimpse of what you say when he was interviewed on Italian TV last year - the inteviewer didn't get it luckily and the translation covered it up but to me he came over just as you say...shame to bust a myth.

I have this sort of fantasy where i imagine such a dinner party -perhaps 8 or 12 people - i have quite a list I would invite! Could make a thread about it sometime...if it's not too boring an idea!

You lot aren't nice to the Blessed Margaret, If only we had her today she would certainly do a much better job of standing up to Brussels than the Lilly livered politicians of the last 15 years

Not surprised you sometimes get bored....

Concur with Alan Bennet - great Northern wit.

You and Oscar woud be one too many quips -won't say which I'd prefer

Jeremy Brett for absolute male beauty - (voice, looks...was/am in his thrall)

The Queen (just so you'd behave!)

Joanna Lumley

Will start working on the menu...

I tend to agree with you. She stuck to her guns and was a strong leader. I don't think ill of her. She is frail and old, and I think some of the previous comments have been unkind, to say the least.

Unkind? if many put what they really thought, the membership would go in rapid decline i think.

OK, point taken, but she is history now anyway. By the way, I am not a Tory voter, so I am not coming from that angle.

Er...to say I detested her politics, I think I was quite nice.

Saying as I did, that she was a pleasant suprise, when I dined with her.

I also posted that with hindsight, I admire her dog's dangly bits, for standing up for Britain against Europe, compared to the E.U.nuchs we have as political leaders today.

That's quite complimentary...for me.

Well lets face it Rindi Maggie had more balls when it came to sticking up for GB in Europe than Blair, Brown and Cameron put together

E.U.nuchs have no balls.

That's a sad fact.

For them.

For us.
