The Rebirth of Reginald Perrin

They are remaking the Reggie Perrin series with Martin Clunes in Leonard Rossiter's part. I can only ask - why? The original was a classic, why try to copy it?

Add my thoughts to that too ...I like Martin Clunes, but so very different types of actors, not only in stature, but style. Will reserve judgement though; can't help thinking will always be clouded by the original.

Re: The Rebirth of Reginald Perrin

I heard a discussion about this 'remake' on Radio 4 a few days ago.
The consensus was that, apart from the story line, the humour would be different because Martin Clunes' personality could never mimic that of Leonard Rossiter.

Can't agree more West Ender, don't think anybody could do the part justice, Leonard Rossiter was one on his own, think I'll be giving it a miss

Re: The Rebirth of Reginald Perrin

What a pleasant surprise
I've just watched the first 3 episodes on BBCi player and am quite impressed.
It will never quite match the novelty of the original Perrin, but it still had me laughing out loud quite often.
