If I remember rightly Greeny they had to close the chemist because it was always being broken into.

I left in 1977 so didn't really know what happened to it. Mum dies in 1986 , so dad moved to Accrington to be nearer to us. I have returned to Shadsworth a time or two but leave with a lump in my throat and happy memories. I feel for most of the residents as they will all be tarred with the same brush, yet the scumbags it shown last night are of the minority.Felt for the couple who are proud to try get on with working , hope a better offer comes their way , they deserve it.

are you daft? People used to break into chemists for the pills which they would sell onto people for recreational purposes and who wanted to stay up all night. Pills that back in the 70's were given out on prescription for various reasons. I think they even prescribed black bombers for slimming back in the day - which they don't do now. There were also "blues" that were a blue colored pill people took to stay up longer.
