“Beauty is an experience, nothing else. It is not a fixed pattern or an arrangement of features. It is something felt, a glow or a communicated sense of fineness.” ~ D. H. Lawrence
Am just recovering from doing a bout of ironing in the sweltering Italian summer -fan on full blast. Luckily The King's Speech was on to keep me company -still brings a tear to my eye every time -have seen it about 5 times now (glutton for punishment!)

I know what you mean about sweltering ... we've been having heat wave conditions for a couple of weeks now ... not quite as bad as the yanks are having it, but close. It got so bad down there with the power outages that Ontario sent hydro crews down to help clean up the mess. I guess that's what neighbours do, eh To more or less get back on topic, the weather has been so weird here that it feels like we are living in the early stages of some cheap Hollywood disaster movie Here follows some info which you probably have already figured out for yourself:
Oh ... drink lots of cold beer. Smoke a joint. Makes even garbage movies palatable. I watched "Same Time Next Year" last nite ... and actually enjoyed it
Come to think of it, it's the kind of movie you might enjoy. And the theme song is not bad either.
Oooh! Eric -you are such an old fashioned romantic at heart!
My mum drove us mad for years listening to Jonny Mathis - even took dad to one of his concerts for his birthday present once!
Still battling with the heat here - my eldest took me to do the shopping earlier -I still can't drive and am using a crutch. Took me about an hour sitting under a fan to get over the heat-stroke - the Coop was freezing cold with air-con full blast and the contrast outside was scary! Serious risk of heart attack...
Wish my roses were lovely and bloomin' like the ones in your video -my garden has died off and looks like a desert -only my Oleander has survived me being away recently - non of my men thought it necessary to water the flowers

warhorse ... though the surround sound had to compete with my brother-in-laws commentary and my brothers snoring ...
I watched Warhorse on TV (Pay per view again) the other evening. Was incredibly disappointed - had heard people rave over it. All far too chocolate boxy for me - Spielberg's portrayal of WW1 was not a patch on WW2 in Saving Private Ryan. Got the feeling it was a film for children -a bit too Disney for my liking.

Couldn't stand all that high-tech, gimmicky stuff I was bombarded with.
I've never been back.
I knew it wouldn't catch-on.
Thought this snatch was very "you" - being such a nifty dancer.
My Gran was a huge fan of Jolson and B&W minstrels in general - was the music of her youth. I tried to find a decent rendition of "Mammy" which was her big favourite but could only see the one from the recent version of The Jazz Singer.
One thing -I never realised he was Lithuanian! You learn something new every day

Sorry to hear you were disappointed, 'cause I'm seriously thinking of going to see the stage version at the Princess of Wales Theatre in TO. It looks real good.
I am very impressionable Eric - saw The Exorcist at the cinema in Chester with friend Lisa and her new boyfriend when I was 18 -they tried to fix me up with a best friend of his who had a strong look of the demonised girl - disastrous evening! Not at all my choice of film/company - couldn't sleep for about 2 weeks after
