who remembers Sabu

Just finished watching 'Thief of Bagdad' , yep I know it sounds sad , (it was a staple of Sunday afternoon television in the 50s) but re-watching it again after all these years I was surprised at the number of special effects , all done without the modern day wizardry of computers , Considering it was made in 1940 , early days of color film I think it should be added to any 'classic/best ' movie list .
Looking back , I'm thinking that Sabu was on a lot of little lads 'heros' list during the 50s, he got to play with Elephants and Snakes in the Original Jungle book

When I was a child we had an ornament of an elephant with a boy on its back. The boy was always referred to as Sabu but I don't know if it was really meant to be him as the character in Jungle book or something or just a general depiction of a boy on an elephant. My mother must have associated it with him though and gave it the name.

At the time the movie was made Sabu was the only Indian voice we heard.
Now they are on the phone every hour of the day pretending they are calling from MELBOURNE trying to sell anything and everything

But we all know they are calling from CALCUTTA [can,t spell MUMBAI]

why is it that most of the folks employed by call centers in Bangalore have names like 'Wayne' and 'Cindy' , don't the business owners know by now that most 'westerners' have no problem with names like Ranjit and Nassima , and lets be honest , most folks would have more confidence having a Ranjit try to sort out a technical problem than letting a 'Wayne' have a go* .........only problem I ever had was when a call center employee once asked me during idle chit-chat while waiting for a download was how far from Wolverhampton I lived

Whenever someone calls me and tells me their name is Shiela or Grahame and they are obviously not then I usually ask them what their name really is! It annoys me that they insult our intelligence by using obviously false names.

If we weren't paying for the call wouldn't it be nice to ask them to spell all they say in that 'bravo/ tango' code
