Worried about the boy

Just watched this on BBC 2 (part of the 1980's season), what a great programme it was, it was about Boy George pre Culture Club, it's well worth watching if you can catch it on iplayer

Re: Worried about the boy

Fantastic.

So many memories.

The only other big player, who wasn't featured in the programme, was Philip Salon. He was the mister big of all those clubs. Steve Strange was just his door whore.

I first went to Billy's, where Club for Heroes started, before moving to the Blitz, in 1979. I was fourteen, and was supposed to be on a school threatre trip in London, for those who's appeared in Oliver. I jumped out of a window, with my bag of tricks. What a night.

Please sir, can I have some more?

I got it, and my clubbing life had started.

Just realised that some of my old Sue Clowes clothes for the Foundry, she who dressed Culture Club for their first TOTP appearances, are now considered vintage!

Time (Clock of the Heart) really does fly.

Great drama, and not one jarring thing not of the period.

I wonder if Kirk Brandon and his family watched it?

Probably still smarting after taking Georgie to court, after he'd written in his autobiography that they were more than good chums.

Victim.

Re: Worried about the boy

This area had it's own mini-Blitz Kids scene too.

They were billed as Bowie/Roxy nights, and were usually on a Monday, when no one else would turn up.

It was the same twenty faces at whatever venue hosted them.

Most of them were clones of famous people, David Sylvian, Bowie, Iggy, Gary Numan.

I, of course, was unique. My own special creation.

Re: Worried about the boy

I've changed my mind asbout there being no mistakes.

It showed a load of girls dressed as George in the audience at TOTP, when Do You Really Want To Hurt Me? went to number one. This did happen, but a few months later.

I remember Suzanne Tully, who played Michelle in East Enders, going into Grange Hill dressed as him, and getting some stick in the girl's loos.
