In the introduce yourself thread, some members are posting a load of drivel merely to get enough posts to use the arcade. Is it not time that the intro thread posts aren't counted in the 'number of posts' the same as the Anything goes section?? I like reading the intros and will welcome anybody who is genuine and tells you something about themselves. What I don't want to do is click onto an intro and read rubbish about 'cats in hats'

Then I think the mods are well within their rights if they delete such rivel wherever it is posted.

I agree Willow.....with a ban being the ultimate "punishment" if they continue the cr** in other threads. If they had but two braincells, surely they could add a few normal comments to the general thread so that they could gain entry to the games?

The other solution would be to allow new members immediate entry to the Arcade instead of posting the required "10 postings."

The reason Roy made it that 10 posts had to be logged before anyone can play, was because people were signing on as members NEVER contributing to the site and just using the arcade.
He has taken time to create the arcade as well as the rest of the site & it is there for the use of the Active members not to turn this into a game site.

Yes Less, I fully understand the reasons behind the "10 post" idea and agree in principle...but we are experiencing a wave of game addicts at the moment who are corrupting threads just to get those ten posts.
There is no easy answer and appreciate the situation that Len and the moderators are in, They can either put up with the rubbish so that those "gamers" dissapear once they have attained enough posts...or ban them, to prevent them going to the Arcade....or let them log on to the Arcade immediately so that those who enjoy the forum can do so without stupid remarks. catch 22?

It is a catch 22, you are spot on there Busman. I think that there is enough quality content on this site for everybody to be able to post something decent, their opinion in general chat, music, nostalgia, football and other sports, heritage and history. We are not short of areas in which to post and surely games addicts will have opinions about various games and could post them in that forum. I like reading the intro threads especially when there is some information about the person and it is a good way to introduce yourself to the forum. Some of the rubbish posted is merely a waste of space. I don't know what the solution is, maybe Roy could come up with a couple of ideas when he gets back from Deutschland..

Is it catch 22 or catch them early? It only needs a few idiots let loose on the site to make it bad for the rest of us, at least this way the moderators get a clue about who could be a problem. If you are old enough to remember when cb radio came out every-one thought it would be a great new way of communicating, but because there was no way to keep the nutters off the air cb has been left for the lunatics to run the asylum and what was potentially a good idea has been ruined.
Without taking care of how people use & abuse our site the same could happen here.

The drivel postings are on a par with spam. As you said Less it just spoils the site for the rest of us. If they are kept under control by deletion then they'll hopefully think twice before posting rubbish in future.
