SPORT and HOBBY section

In the sport and hobby for accrington section you have set places for a few subjects.. but no general area? So if you have somehting to say about your hobby or sport theres nowhere to post... cricket for example? I am not asking for a cricket section.. just wondering where that would go... A general or miscellaneous section is required for hobbys and sports as there is nowehere.... eg: anyone like walking?

Spring 2004
Hi!
Welcome to our first e-newsletter with the latest news on what's happening
with the five northern National Trails - the flagship routes of the Rights
of Way network overseen by The Countryside Agency. We hope that you will
find at least some of the content of interest, and look forward to getting
some feedback from you. If you would prefer not to receive this
newsletter in future, please follow the 'unsubscribe' instructions at the
end.

NATURAL HIGHS BEING UPDATED: So good has the response been to the new
brochure about National Trails (launched at The Outdoors Show last spring)
that we're now working on an updated edition. Walking in England's North
Country - Natural Highs gives an inspiring introduction to the Yorkshire
Wolds Way, Hadrian's Wall Path, Cleveland Way and Pennine Way National
Trails. The Pennine Bridleway National Trail, which is for mountain
biking and horse riding, is also featured. This free brochure is full of
useful information, including details of operators providing luggage
transfer, accommodation booking and holiday packages. From April, TICs
can get copies using North West Tourist Board's Brochurelink order form,
otherwise contact us at [email protected]

ANOTHER WORD FOR THE WOLDS: It's not the longest, or the most taxing -
but the Wolds Way National Trail is certainly one of the most tranquil and
picturesque in the collection - a hidden gem! At its 21st birthday last
October, the word 'Yorkshire' was added to its name to help provide a
clearer sense of identification and geography. The Yorkshire Wolds Way,
which runs for 79 miles between the Humber Bridge and Filey Bay, has just
been featured on the BBC's Country File programme, and a revised guidebook
is now available. National Trail Officer Malcolm Hodgson at
[email protected] has more information.

PENNINE BRIDLEWAY PROGRESSES: Another part of this innovative initiative
falls into place on the 27th May 2004 when a 70-mile section of trail
between Middleton Top on the edge of the Peak and the Mary Towneley Loop
in the southern Pennines opens. The existing Mary Towneley Loop is
attracting increasing numbers of mountain bikers and horse riders for days
out and short breaks. The development of the trail through the Yorkshire
Dales is now being planned in detail. More information from National
Trail Officer Julie Thompson at [email protected]

NOW THERE ARE FOUR PENNINE ROUTES: Last summer's opening of the 350-mile
Pennine Cycleway (part of the National Cycle Network) means there are now
four long distance routes named after the Pennines - the Pennine Way,
Pennine Cycleway, Trans Pennine Trail and Pennine Bridleway. Each offers
its own unique experience and introductory information about all four
routes is now available in a new free leaflet. TICs can get copies of '4
great ways to get high on the Pennines' using North West Tourist Board's
Brochurelink order form, otherwise contact us at
[email protected]

A LOAD OFF YOUR BACK: Not everyone relishes the idea of carrying all his
or her kit every hour of every day's walking. A new luggage transfer
service for the Hadrian's Wall Path has recently started -
http://www.walkersbags.co.uk - and similar services are also available on
the Cleveland Way and Pennine Way (see page 19 of the Natural Highs
brochure). It means that walkers don't have to sacrifice any little
luxuries in order to lighten their load.

HUGE INTEREST IN HADRIAN'S WALL PATH: The north's newest National Trail
continues to attract huge interest and many accommodation providers are
filling up fast with this season's legion of walkers. The popular Trail
Passport scheme operates between May and October, and the Hadrian's Wall
Information Hotline - e-mail [email protected] or telephone 01434
322002 - can supply all the available information publications and answer
queries. A new 'Essential Guide to Hadrian's Wall Path' is due out in
April - contact the Information Hotline for details.

NEW LOOK FOR NATIONAL TRAILS WEBSITE: On-line information about northern
National Trails can be quickly accessed via the recently updated
http://www.nationaltrail.co.uk website. There's a vast amount of data
available, plus a slideshow and useful contact information. You can also
request a reference copy of the Walking in England's North Country Natural
Highs brochure and 4 great ways to get high on the Pennines leaflet
directly from here by going to
http://www.nationaltrail.co.uk/contact.asp#leaflets

That's it for this first northern National Trails newsletter. We're
aiming to put out the next one in early summer time, so if you've any
comments or suggestions, please e-mail
[email protected] in good time.

Your e-mail address is being used only for our own mailings and will not
be given to any third party. However, if you do NOT wish to receive
