The Gallery

There's something about me and that gallery.

You know when you've got an electrical circuit and you think it's all connected up and the plugs are in but when you switch on the light doesn't come on? That's what me and the gallery are like. Somewhere between my brain and the members album thingy there is a little bit of wire worked its way loose.

Re: The Gallery

I think Willow is finding the gallery like I do, rather confusing. For example as we discussed this afternoon, Why were my pictures from the coppice moved out the album of panoramic views of the coppice and placed in some almost hidden sub folder deep in the darkest depths.

Even the competition isn't obvious where to click(as has been mentioned by other members). The way that there are sub galleries it looks like its just a title to them rather than a link to sub sections.

Perhaps its time to revisit the organisation of the stucture to make it more intuitive?

I think most people will find navigating the Gallery a little confusing at the beginning but after a while and with a little patience they’ll soon find there way around.

We need to keep some sort of order in the gallery. If anyone has any photos of a particular location or of a particular event etc, tis best to put them in the correct album, if there isn’t one then we shall create one.

Those Coppice photos have been moved from the panoramic category because the panoramic section’s for large files i.e. 5127 * 500 pixel images and not small 800*600 pixels images. Have a look at “Panoramic view of Accrington” done by K.S.H and you’ll see what I mean. The Coppice photos haven’t been wasted they have simply been moved to the Coppice album.

The competition category is really only for fun and doesn’t really need to be displayed with all the other Accrington associated topics. As long as we, the members know where it is then it shouldn’t matter.

Unfortunately the Gallery software has already been written and there is only so much the user can do with it, unless Roy wishes to spend many hours editing etc. so for now we will have to put up with the cats and subcats etc as they are but you never know we may get an upgrade one day.
