Have been absent from the site since 2013. After receiving a 91st birthday congratulations from you decided it was time to reconnect.
My Howarth ancestors date back in Accrington to the marriage of John to Millison Haworth of Edenfield in 1709. My father Arthur was born there in 1897 during a family visit from Castleton to a wedding of my Aunt Alice Golding to Edward Kenyon. Have been involved in tracing family history for last 30 years but unfortunately because of families membership of the Congregational Church some records were lost.
My best wished to all Accrington members for 2018.

Ey up John, the an me must be two ot thowdest old sods on this site.
About church records, most have more than one set, all the ones I've resaerch when I was indexing parish registers back in the 1980's, had to send quarterly returns to the bishop of the diocese.

Congregational churches would not have come under any Bishop Retlaw. As far as I understand only C of E and Roman Catholics come under those.

Bloomin Eck Rowlf, I didn't know that, I thought all them God Botherers had Bishops.
Just a thought tho, one lot I know of, one of the parishoners had some partial records of their church, Macpelah on Allom Lane, but that was over 30 odd years back, (wheres time gone) and with the aid of that, and death records of all the other churches in Greater Acc, I was able to identify most of them in Gods little acre, its surprising what indexing in data bases reveals.
Like St James in Acc was duplicated in Altham for good number of years. Some times records have finished up in the P.R.O. in Preston mixed up withother stuff.
