Re: Hello from Blackpool

There are a couple of really good websites you could use which due to some amazing volunteers from the area are really good for the Accrington District.

The first one takes records back to 1837 and gives you the added bonus of the mothers maiden name on births which you do not find on normal indexes. It also splits the families into districts as the Haslingden Registration District covered such a huge area including the Rossendale Valley and parts of Whitworth but this website gives the more definate location

www.lancashirebmd.org.uk

The 2nd one is the Lancashire Online Parish Clerk Project which includes records from pre 1837 and gives a full entry for the record and not just an index.

It also gives you the option to search the whole County just in case you are not sure which Church they belonged to

Lancashire OnLine Parish Clerk Project -

Just remember these are being updated regularly and are completely done by volunteers so patience may be needed but as I tell my students when I am doing a workshop - Your Ancestors are not going anywhere, they will stay exactly where they are until you find them so don't rush - take your time and enjoy the journey

Re: Hello from Blackpool

Hello, just found this site. Most of my family appear to be from Accrington/Church but my mum's father moved to the Blackpool area and as far as I know died in the Layton area. Maybe we're related?
