Re: Hi
Hi Cashman, thanks for the welcome, this will be a later reply because I have only just found this page, I am thick when computers are around, I always hated tripe as a child, but have eaten it here in Hong Kong because it is cooked with chilli and spices. Watching the Gordon Ramsy video and seeing the fatty seam and honeycomb brings back memories very smelly memories of the tripe works on Argyle Street don't actually know when my grandfather started to make tripe and he always sold it on Blackburn market, don't know why.
Have a nice day.

Re: Hi
Hi Atarah, just lost the message I was sending you, brainless I am. I remember all those different kinds of tripe, cow heel is a good thickner for stews and casseroles. I used to eat sheeps trotters and my grandmother used to cook sheeps brains for the dog. My grandfather only made the tripe on Arglye Street and sold it in Blackburn, the name Southworths sounds familiar but I don't know why. I am going to try to send this before I loose it again.
Regards

Re: Hi
Hi Bob Dobson, sorry to reply late, it's me and computers. My brain looks like a load of tripe at times or so it seams. Did your grandad make tripe? My grandad and dad were both tripe dressers, how do you dress a fatty seam of a lump of elder. He made the tripe on Arglye Street opposite Westwood Street Accrington, all this would have stopped around the mid 60s when My dad lost the business due to carelessness ( being very polite there) My grandfather had retired after an illness and went to live in Ireland. I remember Hyndburn Road didn't it run parallel to Blackburn Road with all the country names for Steets at one end? I used to live on India Street,
next to China Street, who needed a holiday if you lived in that area!
