No relation, I've been asked that twice today! My maiden name is Renton. All Accringtonians. My late hubby was a Bolton Shanks.

Renton, that is not a common name.
There were 3 Renton's served in WW1
James Renton, Accrington Pal.
Richard Renton, Accrington Pal.
William Renton bro to the above 2,
he served in the 4th East Lancs
Retlaw.

Re: Newbie
Thank you, they are all family, my Grandad was Richard Renton, my dad was William, but not the one you mention. Dad was in the airforce, maintenance crew on spits. They lived on Union Street I think, Then dad lived on St James Street.

If Richard was your Grandad, then William & James his brothers were your Great Uncles, there were two other brothers George, & Tom, and a half brother, Thomas Howard, he served in the Pals.
They did live in Union St, at one time.

Re: Newbie
Thank you again. I didnt know about William and James being my Great Uncles, also haven't heard of George and Tom, nor Thomas Howard. You are very knowledgeable. My guess is you are an expert on Accy Pals. Anyway, Thanks again for the information. I will pass it on to my two brothers [twins]
