I am not going to recommend anywhere in case someone says its not a nice place !
I will wait and see if anyone mentions where I live as a nice place to buy a house - I think where I live is a cracking street ! - but you know what they say - each to their own.

I live in lovely wee street in clayton-le-moors which is about 10 mins from the town centre, we bought our house about 2 years ago for a bargain price and we got it valued last month and its gone up by roughly £11k, so I like to think that we bought at the right time .
when we were looking for a house to buy we must have looked at - at least - 15 houses all over accrington - all various sizes & prices - and the best of it is - the house we bought was the least modern of them all !
but it had all the victorian characteristics still in place going from the (modern ?) 1960's kitchen (units & worktops, sink) which are all in mint condition to the 3 piece victorian bathroom suite complete with victorian tiles and original glass bath panels to name a few...
its a proper surprise when you see it - I love it to bits - I doubt you would find things like that in houses any where else - and certainly not in glasgow !
I shall wait and see if anyone else thinks that my area is a nice bit - if anyone is wondering where exactly I do stay I am about a 2 minute walk from the greyhound pub !

I live close to the Hospital which is quite a good area. Just lacking in the corner shop department!

Anywhere near the top end of Peel Park is quite nice, but prices are rocketing at the mo',we were looking at Avenue Parade but it's just gone silly at the moment.Burnley Rd and the Christchurch area are also very desirable.

I've got a 1912 map of the area you are referring to glasgow guy. The ground rent was £11.0.2d per year, payable in 2 equal instalments, one on Ladyday and one on Michaelmas day.
