Scottish socialist singer Dick Gaughan has an instrumental guitar tune titled 'The Accrington McBrides'. Can anyone tell me the original of the title, or what it may be based on?

I think its connected to the Accrington Pals. There is an Eric Bogle song called Willie Macbride or the Green Fields of France and deals with the theme of the mass slaughter that took place during the 1st World War, But I'm not 100% sure about this. Anyhow here is the lyric
