Re: Accrington Night Out
Enty's is what used to be the Arcade Bar on Church Street, just under the Attic. Went down Accy last weekend for a quiet drink with a couple of mates, and let me tell you that 'QUIET' was the perfect word for it. Most pubs were empty - only the Calders seemed to be busy.

Re: Accrington Night Out
Never liked going round Accy or Blackburn, too many idiots about, never felt safe.
I prefer to go to one or two pubs and thats it.
Very occasionally go to the Swan for a couple but mainly we go to the Hope and Anchor and stay there all night.
Feel comfortable there and avoid most of the drunken idiots elsewhere, also its close to both Petras and Central Taxis so ideally located!

Re: Accrington Night Out
Well I haven't been out for a drink at night in Accy or Blackburn for a lest 25 years now, maybe the reason for the fall of is the prices that are charged these days. I only drink mild these days, in Ossy Con its about £1. 80 a pint (thwaites) Blacksheep is £2 a pint, would think that prices in down are much dearer than that

Re: Accrington Night Out
Thats another reason we don't go out often Jay.
We prefer to buy some booze from work(tesco) and chill out at home where we can smoke whenever, watch telly, listen to music,go on the p.c or whatever the hell we wnat to do without being caught up in any trouble and being annoyed by drunken idiots in town.
Much more fun in my eyes!

I have to say that I'm not going out much these days as well Loz, but mine is enforced on me and not my choise, even so I wouldn't entertain going into town. for the reasons you give. I've got used to watching telly and lisening to music with a nice glass of white or a bottle of Stella Perfic as Pa Larkin used to say

Re: Accrington Night Out
I think that pubs are going to go the same way as telephone boxes and post offices.......soon they will be a thing of the past.

Lilly....how right you are....I am retired and live in Spain.....by design.
I have taken everything into consideration and come to the conclusion that the UK is the place of my birth but a place which I'm wary of.
I can go into a bar in Spain and enjoy myself as can my family, if I want to smoke...I can.
I don't drink and drive...I don't go OTT...by the grace of God I don't get stabbed.
The Government seem to encourage support for the supermarkets and invite you to stay indoors.....where you can smoke to your hearts content.
I fear for my offspring........

Calder has Mild on £1 a pint on thursday nights - though it is student night I've seen grey hair in there before 11.

Re: Accrington Night Out
Was out last night and called in Railway, Nags and Calder, all three were heaving. There was a theme night in the Calder, it was only £1 for two halves of lager

The last time we were in town (a while ago) those three pubs were the only ones worth going in and they were busy as well.
