Accrington Night Out
Has anyone else noticed how much Accrington town centre nightlife has dwindled? Been down town on two weekends lately and only the Calder, Shakers and Bridge have any noteable numbers of folk in them. The Railway is ok in the afternoons, also the Nags Head gets a few in too and is very friendly but were has everybody else gone? Me and my mate went in 'Bliss' adjacent to Bees Knees last Sunday night, ordered two pints then 10 minutes later were ordered to drink up and leave by their bouncer as they were closing. If they are treating all their customers like this then this is another establishment that will be in trouble soon!
Supermarket beer is to blame for some of this, but neighbouring towns like Blackburn and Burnley are not suffering as bad as this.
Saturday and especially Sunday nights in Accrington were something to look foward to after working all week! Bring them back pleeeaaasee!!!!!

Very hard to do that.
Too many restrictions on Landlords....Too many licences required...Too much rent....Too much rates....No incentives to promote the business...Too many dickheads to contend with....and so the list goes on?
Let's not forget going outside for a quick drag............Vote Labour and kill everything...and still they strut about like Peacocks

I reckon it just goes to show that you never know which boozer is going to close down..I have not been on a town pub crawl in Accy for a long time.. but last time the Nags Head looked a cert to be closed..perhaps the "planners" decide which pubs stay alfloat...not the Locals

Could it not be the influx of a non drinking community?

Got a feeling that the MEN group has slipped up here, and should have been the entry in the Rochdale Observer for example.. there is an Entwistle Arms in this town .. just guessing like .. but the people don't look like Accy folk .. maybe they have got ours ?

The Nags was closed for quite some time but it has been altered and is not a bad litle pub. It hasn't been opened out to much like a lot of pubs so still retains some of its character

No matter the influx Roy..I'm saying I know of very popular, money making pubs that have been closed down in the past... can't be for economic reasons for the breweries..must be town planners.

Got to agree with that one...as the saying goes "they could'nt run a **** up in a Brewery"
I didn't put the stars in that.

Seems to do ok Roy, don't go out very often myself and when I do it tends to be to the Canine (cheap beer and good company wins out every time) but did call in the other week and a few in. Think it will do ok
