Thought they would be totally impervious to water - the glazed face made them acid resistant I believe, so water should not be a problem.

Re: Accy nori?

I do know that Nori supplied all the bricks which went into making a long large diameter tunnel through Erdington, Nr Birmingham. Gilbraith Haulage took many thousands of the things all hand loaded and unloaded. The bricks all had a slight curve in them to make a snug fit when they formed the pipe. I am sure they must have been water resistant and most certainly acid resistant other wise the mucky wet stuff would seep out into the ground around the tunnel.

i think unless you drill or break them they are waterproof.

leave one in a bucket of water for a few hours then smash it and see if its dry on the inside

Why not weigh the brick, then put in water, then weigh again.

If the brick is heavier it's absorbed water, if it's the same weight it's waterproof.

Nah, not as much fun as smashing bricks is it?

Had to drill dozens of Noris in Prestige Group Boiler Room - the braze holding the carbide tips in the Masonmaster drill bits kept melting. I was threatened I would have to finish the job with a Rawldrill & hammer if I ruined any more drill bits
