accy pubs
Does anyone know when a pub called the Australia ? closed? Also was the Woodnook on Nuttall Street ever called the Carters Arms?

The Australian closed in the 50s as for the Woodnook, didn't know it was on Nuttall Street can only recall the Brittania on there.

The woodnook was on carter st behind the factory bottoms it was never called the carters

the Star and the Brittania were both thwaites houses on Nuttall st.

think yer wrong mate, i was goin in the Australian early 60s, the then landlady is still batting n lives off Buckingham Grove.

Don't remember the Star beechy, used to go in the Brit in the mid 70s as I live on Nelson street for a couple of years, when did the star close?

think the star closed in the 70s sometime aint sure when, n yes i was 13/14 when i first went in the australian, have a great tale fer ya next time i pop round,
