Re: allotments: who has one? and how long did you wait for it?

Ian, do you have a lease agreement for the allotment? If so does it say they will take it back if you don't use it.

Re: allotments: who has one? and how long did you wait for it?

I`ve got one up in Huncoat, i got on the list as they were about to build some new ones and got it in about 3 months which talking to other plot holders is very unusual, i just got in at the right time, my mate was on the list for the ones in Ossy and he was waiting for the next person to die before he`d ever get one.... so he stuck his name on the list for Huncoat and it took 2 months!!!!! as far as i know they are now all taken up there but the council have started a `use it or loose it` scheme which is run in partnership with the prospects foundation where all the plots are given ratings and if its not touched you are given notice of about a month to get it sorted or you loose it........i know notice was going to be served on a few up at Huncoat. all i would say is pick your area and stick your name on the list........

They are the type that allows chickens and ducks - some ducks on one of them.
Don't be misled by ramshackle buildings - they will be in use - I live next to Heys alottments and ALL the buildings are like that.

Re: allotments: who has one? and how long did you wait for it?

Hi, we have been on the waiting list for an allotment for a year and are currently 47th on the heys and 23rd on the white ash. Not expecting any joy any time soon. We have registered with landshare but the nearest plots so far are in the Burnley area. It might be worth checking out

there are also loads in Baxenden that aren't being used.

geta load of pictures and go in to see them and ask about specific plots. If you make enough of a nuisance of yourself they may just 'find' one to get you off their back
