Post Re: Any Bird Lovers...?...?

Bit of a bird lver myself really. This week was "parrot-siotting" for my father in-laws New Zealnad parrot, he's called Oliver. Taught him to say Ciao.
This Spring found a nest containing 7 very young grey tits. It had fallen from the tree, two were already dead but I reared the others by hand - very difficult task, sad to say not all of them made it, but I did me best!

Hi Jo was that grey Tits are they an Italian Tit? Or did you mean Great Tit.It was good of you to raise them, how many flew? The smaller birds are harder to raise from chicks.

Don't think Kiwi is a parrot, but there is a form of New Zealand parrot called Keas. They are found predominantly on South island around the Canterbury area. They are Alpine parrots that frequent the Southern Alps, around Arthurs pass village. They are well known for their cheekiness, as they tend to sit on parked cars and peck the rubber from around the car windscreens. Hoping to get a photo of one next month when I go there.
I'm not really a bird lover,  Cazzer and Harry X are a mine of useful info, I'm a mine of useless info, hence my knowledge of the NZ parrot. ;D

Think kes knows really!  ;D

Here's a pic of a kiwi anyway.

Nocturnal, flightless bird, whos's eggs are largest of any bird if  in comparison with it's body weight so I believe.

You a twitcher then Kes?

Yeh thanks for jogging my memory of the Keas, Lettie yeh they are a big odd looking and cheeky parrot,oh your info was pretty useful here.Yeh of course the Kiwi I know it.

Thanks for the picture cazzer, I'm not really a twitcher, in the sense that I rush around the country looking at rare birds, just have an interest in wildlife/birds on an everyday basis. I was wondering particularly if anyone knew anything about the Peregrine Falcon's over the back of the Coppice???

Speaking of Kes I actually bumped into the actor who played the kid in Kes, he was walking down Battersea and I saw him and just shouted "Kes" and he bust out laughing and said "how you doin!" that was it.
