Was sat watching Th TV last night it was just dusk about 8-30pm, when I heard a hell of a racket outside, just then, skimming the rooftops were numerous flights of ducks or geese, couldn't really tell in the light, there was wave after wave in V formation flying approx SSE where from and where to god only knows, this went on for about 45 seconds, anybody else see them
Not seem them in flight but there seem to be flocks of geese/ducks on land near the canel between Ossy and Rishton perhaps thats where they were heading

John, we have geese regularly morning and dusk, flying from Broad Oak lodge, they seem to be heading towards Darwen, the latest they've come back at night, is around an hour after sundown, how the eck they can see the water surface to land on at that time beats me.
Hi Jaysay, Yep I saw them, I was just pondering how fresh my lawn looked after spending an hour mowing it... Then bomber command flew over, Geese squadron. Nice sight though, plenty of dinners passing us by in these hard times. Quack --Quack

How many did you get? 45 seconds; you have time to reload twice
The ones I saw were Canada geese, and stopped for a rest at the Foxhill Bank nature reserve, before heading south east...maybe to Darwen, as someone posted.
They do make a real racket, when flying.
I was just looking up what sound geese make. It isn't quacking...gobbling? But it's probably easier to just listen to them.

Funnily enough, did have quite a large population of ducks dropping in on my lodge early Saturday evening ... more than usual. Looked like an annual convention.
