Re: Anyone ever been to Great Yarmouth?

Maybe I am a tad wrong but is it not just as cheap or cheaper to buzz to the Med than stay in GB for a beach holiday?

Not really, I was looking at lastminute.com a few days before we went and the cheapest that I could find for a holiday for four was £900 and that doesn't include travel to airport and parking. We went to Great Yarmouth for £550 plus one full tank of petrol £60 which lasted the whole trip. Most of the entertainment was thrown in although we did go off the site a couple of days and we took a lot of food with us to keep costs down.

I reckon we'd have spent about £2,000 if we'd gone abroad for a week - £900 to get there plus car parking and food and going out, whereas I reckon it cost about £1,200 to go to Great Yarmouth. The saving is the price of the new bathroom suite that we want so definitely worth doing plus I think the kids probably had a better time than they would have if we'd gone abroad. Add to that the fact that we'd have been stuck in all the airport queues and mess - Great Yarmouth was a wise move!

Re: Anyone ever been to Great Yarmouth?

I don't give a buggar about Gt. Yarmouth, Spain or wherever.

I will give you a tip, though, Gayle and it is this: When you get your new bathroom suite installed, whatever you do, do not get one of these eco-friendly water closets installed. These are the ones with the single/double flush, the double being roughly half the cubic capacity of the traditional English flush. if you do, the result after 6 weeks or so will be a blocked drain, an expensive bill and a recommendation that the loo is flushed as often as possible, using far more water than with the old style water tank. So stick to the old one, whatever old crap the salesman tries to push on you that it is now an EU requirement.
