Anyone Know What This Is Please?
I am trying to find out what the Mystery Article in the attached photograph is,
or what is it used for, can anyone help please?
So far everyone I have asked, have been unable to identify it, so I have decided to send it to everybody in my address list.
I think that it is probably fairly old (possibly approaching 100 years)
I think it could possibly be connected with craft work.
The frame is steel, painted black.
The two handle are made from hard wood and when rotated wind in the tapes which pass through slots in the black frame at either end.
There is a metal “D” ring on the end of each tape.
There is also a stopper fixed to the centre of the base, which can be lifted up, to stop the handles from rotating

Re: Anyone Know What This Is Please?
Are you sure it's only six inches?
Hold it in your hand, so we can judge it's size better.

If your list is that old don't expect too many replies.
As for the object?
No idea.

With the shape of the, what look like rollers, must be something that's pliable, was thinking pastry, but the straps would get rather messed up

Re: Anyone Know What This Is Please?
I have been looking at weaving and spinning gadgets, and early looms.
I think it is an attachment for something much bigger.
What you call 'handles' I see as spools.
PS there were gadgets named skeiners which came as attachments for spinning machines, although I haven't found one that looked like this.

Re: Anyone Know What This Is Please?
I first thought it was something that I've seen before for winding wool but now I'm not so sure.
It could be something on a boat as a handle for winding the sails in or something like that.
