Anyone on Economy 7 ?

May seem a daft question but bear with me..... having been whinging about my huge (wait for it) electric bills for ages I took a closer look at one the other day; the jerks at a certain North of the Border supplier have been charging me day rate for the last 2 years instead of cheaper night rate for some of it. What I need to know is; whats the difference in pence between the 2 ? Anyone know ? Can I expect to retire on the refund ?

My daughter works for that Caledonian outfit (did you know it's now Spanish? Will it become El Electrico?) so I asked her.

She says day rate is 10 point something pence per unit (she's good, if not pin-point accurate - in her defense, she deals with gas) and night rate is 4 point something. She says just ring them and they'll sort it out - it is, apparently, a computer glitch.

Don't retire on the refund - just invite me out for a slap-up meal.

Possibly. But you will probably grow old before you get the refund.

Tell them that you also want interest on the money that they wrongfully stole from you.

Absolute classic ! After 3 emails and a phone call about the bill situation I got a revised statement today saying I was in credit by just over 2 grand !
I obviously then rang up again and said ," do you want to check this and if it's right I 'll have a refund please ! " needless to say it isn't right.they have simply cancelled every payment I have made since 2004 and will now rebill it at the correct rate; I await another statement ! I knew it was way out but that was just ridiculous; the woman on the phone just said " Oh that's a big refund" and then disappeared to talk to her boss ! Shame really I was planning a very elaborate birthday bash with that dosh !
