Re: Bookworms: What are you reading at the moment?
Just finished Kathy Reichs Spider Bones thoroughly enjoyed it....have just started Jodi Picoult Plain Truth both on the Kindle. I was given a copy of Smut by Alan Bennet.....I'm saving that for a wee while.

His recent death prompted me to start reading stuff by Christopher Hitchens - I'm currently on "God is not great". In the tradition of George Orwell.
Got one of those ebooks (Elonex not Kindle), it's much easier to read in bed than a paper book & there's loads of free stuff available on-line - keep me busy for a bit!

Here you go Ma,the Witchy one reads the Kathy Reichs books too & she reckons that you may well enjoy the Patricia Cornwell "Scarpetta" series, same sort of vein but more so.

Yes I have read a couple of those too....the titles escape me just now, but I recall them being very enjoyable.
I have a good few of the Kathy Reichs books to read......Monday Mourning is one, Fatal voyage another.
Tess Gerritsen books are in the same genre too.

Did noboby get Jeanette Winterson's latest book " Why be happy when you could be normal?"
Was hoping to receive it myself -but it looks like I'll have to place an order on Amazon.

Re: Bookworms: What are you reading at the moment?
Seeing as the Lord of the rings characters are showing up, anyone read the books lately, I normally read them once a year. And just as an aside "The Hobbit" film is being released at the end of 2012.

Re: Bookworms: What are you reading at the moment?
I'm reading a kindle at the moment(Christmas present) and I can't say I like it as much as a book yet, perhaps I'll get used to it.
First book on it-'The girl with the Dragon Tattoo'- good reading so far but hard remembering those Swedish names.

Oh Gordon...persist with it...it is definitely worth it...especially if like me you are a bedtime reader. The slim little machine weighs very little....doesn't make your arm ache.
I have had mine since sometime in the spring. I had strong reservations about it, but all unfounded...and now would not be without it.

Re: Bookworms: What are you reading at the moment?
there are some very good deals at the moment on Amazon. I have just downloaded two new books....both 99 pence each.what a bargain...cheaper than a magazine and I will get so much enjoyment from them.

At £89 (and I asked for it) I have to persist with it ,Margaret! Questions would be asked.
I do miss being able to flick back a few pages to check something but as you say it needs getting used to.
Re: Bookworms: What are you reading at the moment?
Ah, I guess it is one of the new, smaller, thinner models.....no keyboard.
You can go back a few pages...or on mine I can...and often do.
I still read conventional books....but I think it took me, maybe a week to be hooked on my Kindle.
I have converted a friend of ours to Kindle...she got one for Christmas too....we have been comparing booklists....how sad is that?

There is an on-screen keyboard, Margaret but as usual I haven't bothered to go through all the instructions and explanations-just dived in then complained about it!
Reading the reviews many people said they didn't miss the keyboard, never used it. So there's probably is a lot I can do to make it more useable without a proper keyboard.
Re: Bookworms: What are you reading at the moment?
I don't use the keyboard much........but I think the old version looks better...they are still selling it but now instead of £109, it is £149.....and there is a new colour version coming out next month....the Kindle Fire(it is more like a tablet than a kindle)
