Re: broken washer

Yes it's repairable but not cheap, better off getting a second hand one and hoping it will last a little while.

Unfortunately, changing the bearings in a drum is the biggest job, besides the actual bearings there are gaskets and if he's going to do the job properly all the bolts should be tightened with a torque wrench, it's a very generous offer if he plans to do it for you without charging labour, because with labour you would be talking at least double that, and if manufacturers settings aren't adhered to you won't find it lasting very long.

Sorry I can't offer you good news.

Didn't say he doesn't but I would look through the small ads for a bargain much cheaper and a lot less hassle.

Re: broken washer

Thats what you get for laughing when mine broke over the weekend, and laughing because my little treasure opened the door with it full of water.
Less is right, it is cheaper to buy a second hand one, if you stick with hoover or hotpoint (if second hand) the parts tend to be cheaper and easier to get hold of.
