Camping Gear Packaging Nightmare

How on earth do the manufacturers of camping tents manage to get them into such small & lightweight packaging?I am currently in the process of trying to no avail to re-pack everything into its original carrier(i'm taking time out to type this before i lose my rag, drag it all into the yard & burn it)It all looks very handy in its neat little bundle & the instructions to put it up are very plain, but surely they could give instructions on how to fold it all up small & neat again to fit in its holdall. Also airbeds...try deflating one of those & squeezing it back into its boxAnd lastly sleeping bags..roll it up but you cannot push or sqeeze the ****** into its hoversack like carrier.Bed & breakfast next time.

Re: Camping Gear Packaging Nightmare

key is squeezing every ounce of air out teh tent fabric , roll it like you very life depends on it having npo air in it at all and you stand a chance.

I used to lie mine flat, bring from edges to centre, then again and then in half, at this point put teh bag next to it so you know its not too wide, then roll it as tight as possible.

re teh airbed, use a hoover to suck teh air out!

What you need is a kid to hold the bag and another kid to help you shove it in once you have squished it together as tightly as possible. We do this battle every summer and I can assure you it is possible but you will need a good lie down afterwards to recover from the ordeal.

Re: Camping Gear Packaging Nightmare

Buy a tent thats states it has an oversized bag like I did
Drop the tent, let as much air out as you can, make sure the door is open and roll towards the door, that way the air has somewhere to escape especially the ones with a built in ground sheet.
What do you blow the bed up with? I use an electric (12V) pump I bought from Wilkinsons for £7, there is an inlet and an outlet so as well as being able to blow the bed up you can suck the air out also, saves taking the hoover camping with you
I found it easier if you don't roll the sleeping bag up, just fold it in half and stuff it in, there that slippy if you roll it up you can't keep it tight while you get it in the bag.
