I've never had a bad experience on ebay. I've bought many things and sold several books on there in the past....not as a business though.

The charges are different if you're operating a business on there, I know that much.

Yep use it all the time. I buy and sell , not as a business but as a bit of a pastime.

Its ok and there are good bargains but you still got to be careful, just like normal shopping really!!

Re: Can you make a living at home on your PC?

Ebay has gone dead for me since the Royal Mail sussed out they could make money out of it by charging more for the size of the package..if you are selling, the postage price to the buyer can put them off ...it affected the sellers and the buyers..still can be a source of income if you can be arsed packing up and mailing stuff for little profit

Well Bill Gates made a nice living with his PC. So did James Fayed the owner of E-Bullion and so did the founder of E-Gold a Dr. Douglas Jackson. Both are now facing money laundering charges with Fayed locked up.

Charis Johnson of 12DP infamy made several million dollars from a small room in her apartment and a PC. The last I heard she was trying to do a deal with the FBI to keep her out of jail.

Wasn’t E-Bay itself started from home using a PC?

As for myself personally I will, as our American cousins would put it, take the fifth amendment.

Re: Can you make a living at home on your PC?

Depends on what you define at home, I work from home on a PC some days and could do pretty much all my work from home if needed. So yes I could earn a living from home

through running a business of some kind? yep, why not, if you deal in a product that is rare or doesn't need/suit to physical shop mentality then why not?

Amazon started in a garage with a PC

The beauty of this sort of work is you can start it in your spare time and only jack in teh regular income when its paying its way so its a lot less risky.

I work from home and do most of my work on my pc so would be lost without it. But I guess you don't mean like that.

I have used Ebay and made some money but I think you've got to be really dedicated and be prepared to work really hard at it to make any real money.

Yeah we use E-Bay regularly to buy and sell and have never had a problem yet.
Only a hobby for us,we don't make big money and half the time what we have made we spend on getting something else off E-Bay!

Re: Can you make a living at home on your PC?

I go through phases of using ebay, use it a bay then seem to forget about it. Have bought a few things recently and also sold something for someone else but not gonna go into selling on ebay as a pastime lol when i was getting rid of a load of baby stuff it drove me mad, the queues in the post office were shocking lol

Well I've never even logged onto Ebay never mind used it to buy stuff, I have bought lots of tings on line from TVs, HiFi, Beds, records, books, other white goods, certainly saves slogging round the shops
