Can You Sort Out A Fuse/MCB

Simple question, if you blow a fuse or trip a circuit breaker in your fusebox or consumer unit can you sort it out or do you get someone to do it for you?

You can select more than one option and it is a private poll.

Oh, yes and I always know where the fire extinguisher is as well!

Coincidentally, just arrived home, switched the T.V. on, the main on/off switch has gone wrong, Oh, ****** thought I, not worth repairing it's donkey years old, will have to replace the set.

Meanwhile remembered there is a prog' I want to watch later, so with the aid of a 'G' clamp, cork sanding pad and a hinge I have jammed the switch so it stays on.

Yippee, I can watch into the night, in fact since then I've noticed my living room has got a great deal warmer, had to turn the heating down.

Has the thaw finally hit East Lancashire?

Wrong again, I thought ahead, I will want to turn it off later and I can never remember which of my multiple adaptors the T.V. is plugged into.

The problem I had with answering this is this, I'm intelligent and resourceful so I'm sure that if the situation arose and I was on my own and no one around to help, I'm 100% certain I would be able to do it.

However, I have never had to do it because on the odd occasion such thing has happened someone has always offered to do it for me. And I'm not daft either - of course you can do it for me. x

You know you only need to ask if you were having a problem.

It would be a good idea if you got someone to show you how to do it in case the lights go off in the middle of the night. Or worse the sockets and you can't use Google to work out how to do it

Re: Can You Sort Out A Fuse/MCB

Last time I tried messing with electrickery, about 20 years ago, I got a shock that sent me flying across the room.

Am now officially barred from meddling with anything electric.
